Matty's first day of school

Matty started summer school this past Thursday. It was his very first day of school. The summer school program is only six weeks long and only meets one hour per week. Matty is the youngest in the class. He has 3 other classmates, Aiden, Davis and Billy. Yes, only 4 of them, but there was also Billy's younger brother Peter who also came with him. We were the first one to arrive and meet with the teacher Tricia and TA. I didn't catch the TA's name, but she looks like a high school or college kid. This week's theme was Fish. Matty get to paint on a fish made out of paper plate. He got green paint all over his hands. There were also platforms set up to pretend like boats for them to sit on and rock and a bucket full of toy fish for them to catch using small net. After 30 minutes of playing, the teacher got them to help clean up while singing a clean-up song. I will have to learn that song next time so we can use it at home. The teacher read them stories and sang more songs and also give them paper fish for them to go around the room to catch them from the floor. Matty had a lot of fun and was really curious. He was often the first one to go to the teacher for what was coming next. I also learned some knowledge about teaching kids. I think both Matty and I look forward to next week's class. Next time I will see if I can take pictures.
